Aesthetics and Rejuvenation

Who would like to stay young, radiant and healthy?

Our bodies carry the signs of age and life events: wrinkles, scars, ‘engraved’ on our skin. The best example is the face – the most exposed to the elements, like sun, wind or temperature changes. Our face reflects our feelings, our character and our state of health. It is our face where we’re most likely to notice the first sign of ageing, long before the body itself ages. It is our face is where we might first try to halt this process.

Many cosmetic products are a superficial trick that doesn’t address the root of the problem. Don’t they say that beauty comes from the inside? Dr Emil Vodder, pioneer of the speciality of medicine called lymphology, supported this theory: if the cell environment and cell activity stagnate, the body gets poisoned by its own waste and cells degenerate, age and die. If the cell environment is constantly renewed, life-sustaining nutrients reach the cells, which in turn divide and life flourishes. By activating tissue circulation and boosting lymph renewal, tired and damaged skin can regenerate, become fresh and elastic – a natural regeneration that comes from within.

Akana offers three options for Aesthetics & Rejuvenation:

  • Cosmetic Acupuncture (Facial Enhancement Acupuncture) can improve elasticity of your skin and benefit complexion, eyes, the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and pores, and give you a general ‘face lift’. It has also showed benefits for the treatment of acne and the improvement in appearance of small scars. It is a complex treatment that works holistically (through body acupoints) as well as locally (thorugh facial acupoints) – you get two or three treatments in one!
  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) can work on the face, for a ‘lift’ effect, to reduce puffiness (see Decongestion & Detox) or help manage skin conditions, like acne. Equally, MLD can be practised anywhere on the body to speed up healing of bruises, burns and scars – including surgery scars. A course of MLD is recommended by London’s Harley Street doctors after cosmetic surgery. It is ideal to start MLD treatment as soon as possible after surgery, although with thorough, persistent treatment, MLD has been recorded to have improved even the appearance of old scars and stretch marks.
  • Natural ‘Face Lift’ Massage, for a gentle facial rejuvenation, is excellent for those who carry tension in their upper body, as the muscles of the neck and shoulders are massaged before the face.

Akana’s Aesthetics & Rejuvenation treatments are a pleasant, relaxing experience. Sessions typically last 60 minutes or longer. In most cases, a course of treatments is recommended. The number of sessions and their frequency will be tailored to the individual, according to the treatment objectives. To support this process, Akana offers treatment packages listed on the Prices page.
